The work of Róża Duda and Michał Soja represents experience in which identity is an incessantly constructed state of coexistence of old categories and globalized patterns. The duo’s artistic interests oscillate around a simultaneous prediction of the future and re-interpretation of the past. Full of courage and curiosity, they explore the issues of subjectivity, suspended between the dreams of self-determination, individuality, self-reliance, and the inevitable entanglement in the relations of exploitation. In the reality they create, what dominates is fantasy and illusion, rooted in desires which are impossible to satisfy.
